The Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) is the overarching science and technology research body in Abu Dhabi – and the first organisation of its kind in the Middle East. Promoting transformative technologies to accelerate change, we define the Emirate’s research priorities and policies, align the R&D ecosystem, and allocate research funding. Our work stimulates and sustains a knowledge-based economy and reinforces Abu Dhabi and the UAE’s position as a global innovation hub.
Shaping research and development for transformative technology outcomes, we are responsible for defining Abu Dhabi’s research strategy across academia and industry, consolidating funds for efficient investment, and driving policy and regulation for agile decision-making. Guiding breakthrough technologies, we are substantiating Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE as a desired home for advanced technology talent and a global hub for innovation.
We ask the questions that drive creation of future transformative technologies. We frame use-inspired research statements that solve tomorrow’s challenges, today, and set grand challenges and international competitions that bring together the best of advanced technology ideation. Responsible for programme management of R&D projects under ATRC, we ensure there is a clear innovation path from ‘lab to market’ for our clients and affiliates.
Pushing the frontiers of knowledge and creating a culture of curiosity, we have established a world-class R&D Institute under ATRC that focuses on applied research and new age technology capabilities, with dedicated specialty centres. Working with exceptional talent, universities, research institutions and industry partners from all over the world, we are bringing together an intellectual community in the Middle East like never done before, while also contributing to the UAE’s thriving R&D ecosystem and broader knowledge-based economy.
We create the optimal environment for a world-leading technology research ecosystem through the activities of two affiliated entities with expertise in Advanced Technology Programme Management and Applied Research.
